Q: What is Holy Communion?

Preparing_for_Communion

This sacrament is sometimes called “The Lord’s Supper” or “The Eucharist”. All of the baptized are welcome to come forward to receive bread and wine/grape juice. Part of the liturgy of Holy Communion includes the Biblical words of Jesus: “Do this in remembrance of me.” We understand this to mean that we come to the table as a “dis-membered” people, and at the table we are “remembered” as Christ’s body for the sake of the world. The age of first communion is determined in conversation between the parents and the pastor.

Q: What is Confirmation?

Redemption offers Christian Baptism from birth forward. The word “Baptism” means “to immerse” or “to enter”. At Baptism, the person “enters” the faith community of all the Baptized, and specifically, at the local congregation of Redemption. The pastor of the congregation offers pre-baptismal conversation with family members before Baptism.
